How To Control Access

The user enters a PIN number. The dispensing unit is enabled to deliver the requested item. This is considered to be the least secure access method. It does not insure individual accountability, since anyone could randomly discover a working number.

Employees swipe an individually numbered card to enable dispensing. Security depends on the user being held responsible for control of their card. Since the card is generic, the name and employee number are confidentially held within the database. Cards are pre-encoded and may be reassigned. Card cost is the least expensive of all card choices. Companies with environments extremely hostile to magnetic strips may elect to use a Copyguard Smart Chip Card.

In some cases where your existing employee badges are ISO standard, with a 4000 oerstad magnetic stripe, we may be able to read your existing number. We may also be able to encode a new number on a different magnetic track.

Existing card systems using HID proximity can be connected to the VendGuard^TM control system to eliminate the need to enter a user id and passwords.
